General: we came off the ship very happy of our experience on the Equinox. The star is very attentive, no matter where on the ship, if you need hep or an information they are there really to help. The food is very good, if you have selected a "drink package" they will serve you as much as you want, We thought they would served one glass and disappear, no way they keep asking if you want more .... even if your glass is not empty. some small things can be improved according to us but could be nothing to others i.e. storage in the stateroom we have seen ships with more storage than this one.

Getting there: from the Athen airport you can take the bus X93 for 6 € each or a taxi (we took) which will cost you 50€ when no trafic, it took 1 hour at noon time. You need to know which gate is your ship, ours was waiting at gate E12. The port is like a horseshoe, when looking at the ocean the gate E1 is on your right to gate E12 on your left, there's about 3 miles between those 2 gates. BUT E1 to E6 are for ferries, Most cruise are at gates E10 to E12, about 10 to 15 minutes walk between each gate, remember if you take the bus.

The only major disappointment about this cruise, we had an 18 hours power outage in our room, started at 23:45 ended at 18:00 PM the next day. This was very poorly handled, I won't use the word manage because it has t been managed. The problem is the emergency light stays ON all the time, during the outage, small detail but sleeping with the light ON is not obvious, Phone guest relation "no answer" learn the next day they were victims also, I learned the whole port side had the same problem (I think at least 1 000 people were affected by this) .... why the heck the Captain didn't take the microphone and inform everyone instead of letting al the passengers calling the "911" we had a captain good to tell us how deep is the ocean but for problems .... I think he doesn t want to talk about it..... we were kept in the dark (LOL) info wise. This leaves me in doubt in case a major catastrophe happens like the COSTA Concordia where the captain and sone crew men were safe before the passengers ..... food for thoughts. BTW our munster leader looked like "cinderella" that is reassuring LOL

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 2B

Cabin 2B

The cabin is OK, we would liked more storage room, but it was sufficient. It had an obstructed view which means the roof of the safety boat will reach halfway your ramp. You can see the ocean when looking straight ahead, cannot look down all you will see is the promenade deck and the side of the lifeboat.

Port Reviews

Athens (Piraeus)

bus available near the ship, 4,50€ per person all day will take you downtown Athen about 35 minutes. Must see the acropolis the plaka, and why not just hang around and have a local beer

Dubrovnik

Because the new port is a few KM away from the old city, ship sells shuttle tickets 13€ PP good all day, taxi just outside the ship charges 13€ each way ... do your own math.

I dont think you need a tour here just going around the old town satisfied us

Split

very nice, from ship "walkable" to the city 10 minutes . The "roman castle" is to see. it is hidden behind the stores look carefully for the arch doors between 2 stores. Local guides available at low cost. The underground of the castle is for those who LOVE architecture otherwise no need to visit The inconvenient they have their own currency 7,50 Kn for 1€, some take € need to have confidence on the exchange rate applied by the merchant. Must try the local beer cheaper near the port, why ? I dont know.

Corfu

the port offers a free shuttle up to the exit, then you will see HOHO busses taxis and all, we walked to the old town apprx 35 minutes. must see pedestrian district lots of shops. The fortress is occupied the philharmonic school. nice to visit.

Santorini

THE place to be. No port for the ship, must take tender from the port authority, very long to get off the ship, must take a number on the ship, roll call figure at least 30 minutes wait. When you get off the tender buy roundtrip tickets to OIA, do not go up to Fira you will visit on the way back They will take you to OIA by boat and return by bus for 15 € PP. Word of advise : here is where you will find out if you can stand boat "rocking" as you get close to OIA the sea is a little more "wavy", our boat was third to unload, so got a chance to experiment it, BTW better sit on top (chairs on the roof) of the boat : more air. This way you can take all the time you want to visit OIA we had taken a tour few years ago ... "OK guys you have 20 minutes to visit OIA, then we had an hour + to visit his cousin factory .... " yes I hear you ... me too I swear sometimes. Fira is very nice to visit, is located on top of the cliff, you can go down by cable car (5€ pp) or by donkey ride 3€ or walk their path ... be careful not to step on "mines"

Rhodes

WE ve been there 3 times, very nice city well worth sightseeing , also you can take a tour or taxi to Lindos which has an acropolis .... 292 steps to climb .. you re advised

Mykonos

New port has only room for one ship, which we benefit. The other ships must use tenders. Free shuttle from new port to the other end of the port near the town. this Island has beaches and this town, do not buy tour .. waste of money. this is a freestyle island no rush no stress

Kusadasi

Many salmon as you walk out of the port. If you purchase anything take it as is, DO NOT LET THE SALESMAN WRAP IT away from you you'll be sorry when you will unwrap it You are advised.

Here you can purchase a tour to see Ephesus once the second largest city of the roman empire, it use to be a port ... now its 20 KM from the ocean. Also take time to see holy Mary last house
