All in all, the cruise on Viking Sea was the best cruise we have ever had. The ship itself was very spacious with lots of room everywhere and arm chairs in every corner. The standard of the furniture and fittings on the ship was of a very high quality and considerable thought had obviously been given to even the smallest detail. Very pleasing details were that there was no casino, no hordes of photographers through whom we had to negotiate to get on board, no screaming children (passengers under 16 were not allowed), music was always live and varied from classical to pop. The staff on board were friendly and ready to talk and made no attempt to avoid passengers. On arrival at Bergen airport there were Viking staff everywhere to guide you as there were at the cruise terminal when disembarking.
The on board entertainment was in a different league to the entertainment we had endured on other cruise lines. Previously we had regarded the on board entertainment as the worst feature of all cruises but on Viking Sea it was of West End standard. The computer generated back drops in the theatre had to be seen to be believed.
The food was all of a very high standard, Unlike on most cruise ships, where the food, although good as obviously mass catering, on this ship it was cooked to order as in a normal restaurant – and it showed.
