This was our very first cruise of any type and it was absolutely magical. The food (Alsatian cuisine) was very good. The crew was wonderful, very professional and also very friendly. They catered to our every need. The accommodations were very comfortable. The scenery was beautiful and and so very peaceful. It was fascinating to watch as we navigated through 40 locks during the course of our cruise. Traveling down the inclined plane at Arzviller was a very memorable experience. We especially enjoyed the fact that the barge sailed during the day and was docked at night. The daily outings were very interesting. We went to a small chapel with beautiful stained glass windows by Marc Chagall, had a walking tour of Saverne, visited a family-run glass-blowing studio, explored two different castles, and dined on an Alsatian specialty at a local restaurant. We also enjoyed walking along the tow path a number of times while the barge sailed along beside us. The other passengers on our English-speaking cruise were all a lot of fun. An unexpected pleasure for us was getting to know the other passengers. We hope to take another CroisiEurope canal cruise in France sometime in the future. I highly recommend this cruise!
