AMA Legro docked in Vernon

This was our first river cruise with AMA Waterways and our third river cruise overall in addition to six ocean cruises. Like the other two river cruises, AMA Waterways did an outstanding job of providing a great itinerary, extensive service, a wonderful boat and crew, and gourmet dining. We enjoyed the floor to ceiling sliding glass door on our room's French balcony. WiFi was available throughout the boat. Our ride was the most quiet of the three river cruises we have taken. The upbeat crew of 42 (Vinny, Jullien, Alex, Boyan and Dragon, to name a few) seemed to have as good a time as we were having. Our fellow (119) travelers were mostly American with a few from places like Canada, England, and New Zealand. Most people dressed as advised in "country club casual." There was a variety of attire.

AMA Waterways provides free beer and wine at lunch and dinner. There was also a special Chef's Table made available for 24 each night that served a five or six course gourmet dinner in a glass enclosed room with a view at the rear of the boat. There were about 20 bikes available for excursions, umbrellas for everyone, a jacuzzi, outdoor lounge chairs, and a fitness center. Twice we were entertained by female vocalists singing French songs. The electrical outlets are the typical two prong European plugs, but adaptors and converters are available.

The excursions were exceptional. AMA Waterways showed their class and flexibility when we encountered a rising Seine River forcing us to stay in one town several nights. They brought in buses to complete the excursions (always with headsets to facilitate hearing). To us, it looked effortless. But, there must be quite a support group within AMA Waterways. At the end of our trip, four of us had a late flight departure. We were driven in a private car to CDG airport and met at the curb by an AMA Waterway representative (Mustafa) who escorted us through the entire check-in procedure up to security. Another example of outstanding AMA Waterway detailed service.

Cabin Review

Stateroom with French Balcony

Cabin B

Great central location. Quiet. Plenty of storage space and hangers. You really spend very little time in the room. A safe extra bottles of water, two headsets to use on excursions, and two umbrellas are in the closet. The Monitor serves both as a computer screen and TV screen.
