We chose this cruise date because of other obligations and the ports. Embarkation was a breeze. Vancouver gets my vote for best cruise port. We were through in 5 minutes. Debarking was equally smooth with plenty of cabs.

We didn't partake of much entertainment but the music was good. At least 1/2 the passengers had the NCL drink package (promotion) and I felt that this resulted in fewer drink waiters. I practically had to trip the one taking care of the Observation Bar to get a drink. Food was good but the specialty restaurants are more limited than on other NCL ships--mainly steak, teppanyaki, sushi, and more steak. Plus the Italian restaurant. They were very accommodating to my vegetarian diet.

We spent 3 nights in Vancouver and enjoyed the city. It had been 17 years since we were there. Flights out are limited and we arrived at the airport 1.5 hours before American opened it's desk so don't hurry just to sit in the terminal.

Cabin Review

Penthouse with Balcony

Cabin SE

We stayed in Suite 9276, a "deluxe family suite." There is a connecting cabin to make it 2 bedrooms with a living room in between if you wanted to bring kids or another couple. The cabin was comfortable. The Sun had a brief dry dock a few weeks earlier and the steward said our fabrics were new--carpet, curtains, seating. The bed was comfortable but the duvet cover had some tears. The bedroom is oddly shaped--more pie slice than anything--so moving around the bed was tight. There was enough storage for 10 people. The bathroom was much larger than regular cabins, as would be expected in a suite. The oversized Jacuzzi tub was nice but it took forever to fill enough to turn on the jets. Other reviews have mentioned that the glass door to the water closet has to be opened all the way to get past it from the bathroom part. Inconvenient. Amenities were Elemis but I had to ask for refills of shampoo and lotion. The balcony was aft to the port side of the ship and was large with 2 loungers and 2 regular chairs. Would have been used more in warmer waters but we enjoyed sitting outside to watch the scenery and birds. And it was amazing for Glacier Bay. Being aft we had time to look for things that were being reported forward.

Glacier Bay

The bay is the experience. A guide from the national park was onboard to provide commentary and answer questions

Vancouver

City has grown a lot since the last time. A bit overwhelming. We went to Granville Island and to the Suspension Bridge. Both good although it was a holiday weekend in Canada so crowded.
