we chose this ship for the varied itnerary, and it travels r/t port everglades. we haven't been on a ship this small since the ncl starward in 1979. we have sailed many other cruise lines, but HAL gets first look due to the amazing crew. an 11:00 pm departure allowed for a seamless embakation. our balcony cabin was adequate and functional(most of the time). tired furniture and 1980 style tv not worthy of inflated cabin cost. sliding bathroom door wtth gaping side opening allows you to hear EVERY sound, so privacy is non-existent. no big deal, but kinda weird installation.
the public areas are attractive and spotless, but only 4 elevators(fore and aft). this became an issue, due to one most always out of service, otherwise ship easy to navigate, which explains the median age of about 75 yrs old. more for the "young at heart" than young, this is classic 1960 cruising.
other than ping pong and shuffleboard, that's the extent of outside"sports activity". there is a workout area with machines and weights to help fight the calories. we preferred breakfast in the main dinng room on sea days, and found the service excellent. the upstairs lido was rarely crowded, as there were only 650 passengers aboard.
