We chose this cruise to visit the top end of Australia. We were saddened to get an email before we left saying that the ship was unable to travel at full speed and they had to drop Yorkeys Knob off the list of ports. A lot of people boarded the ship without having been told that info so they were extremely disappointed. The ship was travelling perfectly well and everyone on board thought this was just an excuse - not good enough Princess. Boarding the ship was even difficult, we were given a group number but then they decided they would board by decks, then back to numbers again??
We've travelled on several other shipping lines and the Princess shore excursions would have to be the most expensive by far. They are ridiculously priced and nobody can afford them.
Getting off at Geraldton - the tender operators seemed to be very inexperienced and let the tenders keep bashing into the ship, a lot of people ended up with jarred necks.
Stay away from this cabin unless you like being woken up at every tender port. The arm for the tenders is directly under this cabin and sounds like a jack hammer that goes on for hours. They should not charge full price for this cabin. Apart from that it is the usual small bathroom, small balcony combo with a lot of things not working.
The local volunteer guides were wonderful and you can get around on a hop on hop off bus, or walk, you don't need to pay for expensive ships shore tours. You can also hire a car like we did, the lovely people met us at the end of the pier with the vehicle, it was great.
Work on the jetty meant it was reduced to one lane, so getting on a bus took hours. Because we had a shower of rain they cancelled all the camel rides on Cable Beach.
