A once in a lifetime cruise, if only because we had fantastic weather nearly the entire time. It started out rough, as we experienced choppy seas on our journey from Vancouver to the beginning of the Inner Passage, to the point where we stumbled through the halls when walking. Our first stop, an excursion into Tracy Arm Fjord, had to be substituted with a trip into Endicott Arm, but a cloudy dreary day turned completely clear by noon, and we experienced only blue skies and 65+ degree weather for the rest of the cruise. Absolutely beautiful weather to match the scenery. If the weather had been average (i.e., cloudy skies and rain), this could very well have been a huge waste of money. When choosing a cruise itinerary, ensure there is a stop in Glacier Bay National Park, as it was the highlight of the trip. Park rangers board the ship and provide commentary and presentations during the day-long visit. It was fantastic!
Overall, the cabin was nice, though the ventilation in the bathroom was poor. Every shower resulted in a completely steamed mirror. Only if you have the option of showering with the door completely open (depending on traveling companions) could you remedy this situation.
Excellent embarkation point, as the city train from the airport drops you off at the waterfront. If you are going to spend some time in the city prior to the cruise, I recommend staying downtown and using the tourist trolley and/or an excursion company (such as LandSea Adventures) for getting around town and the surrounding area.
