This was a relocation cruise from Singapore to Sydney. The ship we sailed on "Celebrity Millennium" was in need of some major renovations. There were holes covered by carpet on one of the decks and people actually suffered falls. I had a balcony room on deck 9 and the view was fantastic, once I could get the balcony door open. This ship is due to go in to dry dock once it reaches Vancouver, but from what I hear only for a basic refit.
The staff on the ship were fantastic and could not do enough to help you. The cabins were of average size, like most of the ships I have been on and the most important clean. The dining room staff were also fantastic, but the menus were boring and the symbols that they use to state if the food is vegetarian or lactose free etc. were not very good. I was looking for the lactose free symbols and when I found them, many of the descriptions of the food contained cream or cheese in the ingredients. So much for lactose free. In the bistro, it is the first ship that I have been on that has closed the bistro more times than it seemed to be open. Yes they cleaned it well, but you were always waiting for it to open so that you could get something to eat and the afternoon tea time was at 4pm, much too late if you were on the early sitting for dinner, so you missed out. The entertainment on this ship was very good. Some was exceptionally good. This is of course only my opinion and everyone has different opinions and like different things when it comes to entertainment. So overall they did a fantastic job.
The ports that they travelled to were okay, but they cancelled the one that I most wanted to go to just before we sailed. I feel that they should have given people the option of cancelling if that was there preference.
The cabin was of standard size, clean, but in need of some maintenance. The sliding door on to the balcony needed some work done on it to get rid of the rust on the sliding area, so that it could be opened without all the effort that had to be put in to it. For me there was ample space to put all my things, but then again I was travelling on my own. If there was two people in the cabin then maybe little things like coat hangers and shelves in the bathroom would be nice. One thing that was great was the fact that they had a clothes line in the shower and high enough that you did not have to take it down each time that you had a shower. It was great for washing out the smalls.
Brisbane was closed for the day, so there was not a lot to do unless you wanted to go to Australian Zoo. The prices for the shore excursions via the ship were to expensive
