Unfortunately we had very few sunny days and very few enjoyable events. I wouldn’t recommend this cruise to a friend.
Starting at the Narita airport where we were rounded up like cattle, having to wait almost one hour and having to bring our luggage several hundred yards to waiting buses. The Intercontinental Hotel was very nice and the service was fine. The 3-day pre-cruise program consisted of multiple long bus rides accompanied by guides that were eager to help and inform but difficult to understand.
After embarkation a huge problem hit us with full force: no internet or phone service for the next 5 days! (Japan doesn’t allow satellite communication in their territorial waters). RSS didn’t mention this in any brochure, advertising or communication! We wouldn’t have taken this cruise if we knew this. For the remainder of this cruise, internet service was on and off available but at a speed that reminds of dial-up service (less than 1MB/minute). On the last day of this cruise there was basically no internet service, thus check in to our flight home was not possible.
Didn't see much due to fog, besides very cold and windy
Gondola was closed due to high wind, lake Ashi boat ride was okay but fog and rain didn't help
A long bus ride to and from Kyoto with walking in the rain from shrine to shrine
This was an interesting excursion to the shore line
We couldn't see the nearest tree due to fog.
More bus riding than sight seeing, besides it rained.
Seeing the architecture of many tall buildings was very nice, the museum is huge and there was not enough time allocated to appreciate the exposition.
The show was very impressive and enjoyable, the seating was rather poor.
