We were able to take the Spirit on her March 12th Eastern Caribbean itinerary. The Spirit was the smallest ship we'd ever cruised on, and it turns out we like the smaller ships just fine. She has an Asian decor that sets her personality apart.
The kids (9 and 11) absolutely loved the Splash Academy and Buccaneers pool area. The Raffles Terrace, an open bar on the aft of the ship, was my favorite area. My wife dug the Galaxy of the Stars, especially early morning pool games with an absolutely stunning view of the ocean.
We only ate in the main dining room a couple of times - we managed to leave the garment bag of formal clothes at home! Service was a bit slow but the food was good and they were more than happy to honor our odd requests. Other than that we ate at Shoguns and Raffles and the food was fine. I really appreciated the vegetarian options.
4479 is an absolutely huge room. It is about as forward as you can go, though, and really close to the water line. The sound and motion of the waves were more pronounced than what we had previously experienced, but was great for sleeping! As an additional bonus you're near both the anchor and a tug push point, which is the perfect alarm clock on port days. :)
This excursion was a ton of fun. The crew on the catamaran were high energy and seemed to love what they were doing. The trip over to St. John was pretty quick and the crew kept it informative. The snorkeling was interesting, though the area was pretty busy. On the ride back we had cheese, bread, chocolate, wine and rum punch. We'd definitely do this one again!
