Sail Date: Feb 2016
Cabin: Interior Stateroom

This was our second Royal Caribbean experience the first being the Voyager of the Seas in November last year.

The Splendour of the seas is smaller and older. Smaller need not an issue but there are signs of aging in parts of the ship. The Stateroom was a little jaded as were some of the public areas. Having said that the service was excellent as was the food. The entertainment was just about OK but the speakers, who gave briefings on the destinations, need to be changed or given training in public speaking. The facts may have been interesting but the delivery was flat, monotone and dull. This seemed to suit many in the audience who soon fell into a restful sleep.

The deck pool and wirlpools were fine but on sea days you had to be up early to get a sunbed and up very early to get one in full sunlight. The staff did try and impose the rule that "a sunbed could not be reserved (with a towl etc.) for more than half an hour" but they were fighting an uphill battle. There was also an indoor pool that was actually better for swimming.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Cabin M

Somewhere to sleep. Large comfortable bed but fixtures, fittings and decoration a little tired. No fridge or tea making facilities but we took our own travel kettle.

Port Reviews

Dubai

We took the hop on / hop off bus tour

Muscat

In the morning we walked into the souk and in the afternoon we negotiated, with a taxi driver at the port enterance, for four of us to have a two hour tour of the main attractions for $50.00 and took in the main attractions.

Abu Dhabi

We hired a taxi to take four of us to the Grand Mosque (breathtaking), the Emerates Palace Hotel (Grandure) and the Heratige Centre. Price negotiated 300UAD (£60). Excellent value with full flexibility of the time spent at each location.
