My husband and I just returned from a one week cruise on the Favolosa. We have sailed on almost 20 cruises with most of the major lines so have a good base for comparison. Overall we
enjoyed the cruise but there were several small irritations that were sufficiently annoying that we would not sail with Costa again. The positives: cabin was very nice and kept immaculate by the steward; same goes for the ship itself. We found the food much better than expected based on the reviews. The buffet does tend to be crowded at breakfast but there are 7 different lines so they move quickly. There was ample choice of hot and cold food including 3 omlette stations. There were fewer options in the dining room than on Hal or RCI but what we did order was served hot and was delicious despite being previously frozen in most cases.
The negatives: we found the staff generally to be curt. The waiter in the dining room only spoke when we asked him a question and was occassionally sarcastic. As 2 of a handful of english speakers on the ship we needed help understanding the menu (which they continually gave us in french). He was fluent in french and english but made us feel we were inconveniencing him.
