This was a spur of the moment cruise for us (our 3rd cruise over 40 years). Convenient because it sailed from Fremantle and returned there, and 6 nights was enough time away during summer & the risk of bushfires. Our friends were onboard too on their second trip on the Astor.
We had an inside cabin on Baltic deck in a forward position and honestly it was a great position. No noise whatsoever from engines, something to think about with future bookings. Our cabin was very adequate with two wardrobes, a full length mirror, desk with mirror, small fridge, tv, radio and two single beds which were a little too firm, but were reasonably comfortable. The bathroom was big enough and bright in white. The shower was fantastic, very good water pressure and really hot water. The whole cabin was kept spotlessly clean.
We used the stairs the whole trip and they provided very good exercise. Food was mostly well presented. We preferred to dine in the Waldorf rather than the buffet of the Ubersee. Wine was $4.50 a half glass and from $25 a bottle. Tried a couple of cocktails but didn't enjoy most of them as they tasted weak and watered down. Did enjoy the coffee and tea that was available all day.
Very tidy and spotlessly clean. Irina was a very efficient cabin steward.
