We are seasoned cruisers and have traveled on many lines, but predominately Celebrity. We were interested in trying the Azamara experience and visiting the smaller islands.
This ship was in dry dock and only returned to Miami the morning of the cruise. We feel that it was premature as many items had not been completed and it appears that the company only allowed two weeks to do a major overhaul. We were not told about the dry dock when we booked and didn’t find out until after final payment. They noted that they had weather issues and missing parts/supplies.
We received a text and voicemail telling us that we should come to the pier from 2 to 4 o’clock. We needed to check out and the last hotel shuttle to the pier was 12 so we went at that time. Once there we waited and then one of the Azamara executives came around announcing that boarding would not happen until at least 5 to allow them to ‘polish’ everything so that we would be ‘dazzled’. They handed out vouchers for some to go to the cafeteria at HQ and brought on pasta/cookies and water/tea for the rest of us. We boarded after 5 and got to our cabin; no luggage yet. We did the safety drill and then went to dinner. The luggage arrived later.
