We chose this trip for the itinerary, never haven't been to any ports on this cruise. We were not disappointed. Our booking included a 3 day pre-cruise tour package. This was excellent for folks like us who had not visited South Africa before. We got out of Cape Town into the East Cape Wine lands, to a private game park, Aquila ,the 2nd day, and toured Cape Town itself the 3rd day. We boarded the ship Dec 9 and had one more day in Cape Town on the 10th. It worked well that everyone had a day in Cape Town before the ship left port.

We went out privately with a car and driver for a tour of Table Mountain National park, Simonstown, and the penguin colony for our last in port. That was really reasonable and personable. We always enjoy Oceania, especially the service, food, smaller size of the ships which mean we can go to a greater variety of ports. However we feel their excursions are overpriced. On this cruise the entertainment was fair. The ship's guests were more varied than usual, lots of Europeans, Aussie's, South Americans, fewer from North America than we've previously seen. It made for more interesting dinners and tour groups but no doubt more challenging to provide entertainment that all would enjoy.

We went to number of game preserves privately. Addo Elephant National Reserve Park near Richard's Bay with Mosaic tour company was wonderful, a must if you want to see elephants and we saw so many other animals. Another highlight was the Hluhuwe Game Reserve near Richard's Bay, the oldest one in South Africa, for the beautiful landscapes alone. Our tour there with Eurozulu included a picnic BBQ in the park near some baboons.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View

Cabin C2

The cabin was quite adequate for our needs, the window large and the deep window ledge a handy storage area. We enjoy the convenience of deck 4, easy walk to the lounge, dining room, reception. The bathroom is very compact with a small shower.
