My husband and I have just returned from a 20 night cruise on MSC Lirica. We are both senior citizens and this was the fourth cruise we have taken with MSC. Embarkation in Genoa was quick and efficient and we found the ship to be elegant, well looked after and comfortable. We found all the staff very pleasant, helpful and courteous. Our inside cabin was quite roomy and comfortable and well looked after by our steward. Our request for a table for two in the dining room was arranged without any problem and our waiter, Bayron and his female assistant were charming, efficient and friendly. Their language skills were quite impressive. The food in the dining room was generally good, although the main courses were sometimes disappointing with tough meat. The ice cream though was always delicious! Gala Nights, the Italian Night and the Baked Alaska Parade were really good.

We enjoyed most of the shows in the theatre which were all well attended. One performance did cause some concern, however, the Staff Talent Show. The seating for this was quite inadequate, combining both first and second sittings from the dining room. This resulted in people sitting on the steps in the aisles. Had there been an emergency nobody would have been able to get out - an accident waiting to happen!

I enjoyed the aerobics classes and also the dance classes held on deck (music a bit loud though). These were well supported and credit must be given here to the Animation Team who created an atmosphere of fun from the moment guests boarded the ship. They worked tirelessly from the moment we boarded the ship until we disembarked. They were all great and did everything they could to ensure all guests had an enjoyable cruise. The festivities for crossing the Equator were very good and all were encouraged to take part.

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom

Cabin I2

Comfortable, and well maintained. Would have enjoyed some English speaking T.V. programmes. Air conditioning a bit fierce.

Port Reviews

Genoa

We found Genoa an interesting city, easy to get about and plenty of places to visit.

Marseille

We enjoyed our visit here. Plenty to see and good centre for shopping. Not very easy to get too and from the port independently.

Cartagena (Spain)

A lovely place, well worth a visit and easy to get round.

Malaga

Well organised by the Spanish authorities. Plenty to see and do. Very easy to get about independently. An interesting city.

Tenerife

Again, a Spanish port so well organised for visitors. Easy to get about independently. Plenty to see and do. Easy to get a bus over to the other side of the island.

Rio de Janeiro

This is a very exciting and vibrant city with wonderful breaches. Lots of places to go and things to do. At the moment they are in the middle of preparations for the Olympic Games next year - namely a new tramway system. This means there are massive traffic jams so give yourself plenty of time to et back to the ship on time.
