We have sailed primarily on Princess and Celebrity. This was our first cruise on HAL and the Eurodam. Very impressed with the ship, service and ports of call. This cruise was "billed" as a Fall Colors Cruise, but it was not until we got to Quebec did we see the first Fall colors, but can't blame a late season on HAL. Overall, we were very impressed with the service on the Eurodam, both room service and in the dining room. We were in cabin 6113 which, due to the configuration of the ship, is an over-sized cabin and veranda for the class of cabin. If you are going for a Signature Suite cabin, try to get this one (or its opposite on the port side) Entertainment in the lounges and theater was better than on Princess and, in the lounges, also better than on Celebrity. Theater shows on the Eurodam were equal to Celebrity. Really great group in the BB King club on board.
Service and quality of meals in the main dinning room were very good; equal to what we have experienced on Princess and better than Celebrity. The Lido cafe was equal to both of the other lines. Real treat, if not all that healthy (but who goes on a cruise for healthy eating) is the cook to order hamburger and hot dog grill on the Lido deck by the pool. Best French fries and burgers anywhere.
Room stewards were excellent, and the folded towels in the shape of different creatures was a very nice touch every evening.
Very large cabin, veranda and bath; largest we have had on any ship.
OK. This is New York, and the opening day of the General Assembly at the UN so traffic has even worse than usual with many street blocked off. What should have been a 15 minute ride to the port terminal from the hotel took nearly an hour. Once in the port terminal, long lines to check in. Did no seem as well organized as on either Princess or Celebrity.
