Upgraded from balcony to mini suite a week before sailing @$80 pp, was well worth it, priority checkin & transit onto the ship in a matter of minutes. Also had free soft drinks included, fruit basket & nibblies, after cruising a lot in our earlier days around South Pacific & Asia, we don't tend to do small /local trips anymore, our last 4 cruises have been repo cruises from between 18-37 days in length in Europe & America. When we boarded the Jewel we could see she is an older ship but the cabin (11126) was well appointed, the only downside is the location under the pool, the noise of the deck chairs could be annoying at times, in terms of restaurants -we prefer the cafeteria & the pantry concept was interesting, traffic flowed well, less wastage (but I don't think ruled it out ) & more healthy in terms of germs not being passed through many hands touching utensils. I would have to say thatthe Jewel are not as hygeine alert as other ships. Other lines always someone in doorways ready with sanitiser & they are well positioned at lifts & pretty much sanitiser stations at every doorway, we didn't utilise the spa or speciality restaurant services, perhaps on a longer trip, I found the service staff in all areas to be friendly & service orientated, I would happily go on the Jewel again& recommend her to others, we just spent a month on the solstice & whilst it was a beautiful ship - their unethical business practise of increasing alcohol prices by $3US per drink was an insult to the 2000 Australians who boarded in Hawaii & so I actually rate P&O higher than celebrity, the ships might not be flashy new ones but they beat celebrity hands down in terms of service & atmosphere - we also had the pleasure of celebrating the 5 ship spectacular & justice crew & exito were awesome -well done P&O it really was spectacular!
Well appointed - 2 seat sofa flat screen tv & king bed, table & chairs in balcony, bathroom large with bath plenty of storage space & room to move
Free shuttle from port to main part of city, walked around city & down to beach - went to lucky hotel for some American fare - very good & reasonably priced, volunteers that promote the city to cruising tourists do a good job
