This was our 14th cruise and 2nd on RCCL. (an 18 nighter and a 10 nighter)

The staff in the most part were great but unfortunately many are being used by Head office to endlessly push the drink and restaurant packages instead of serving the guests.

The motto seems to be make money, not serve guests. Because of that attitude service was lacking, particularly in the bars. I felt sorry for the cabin staff as they obviously have far too many cabins to attend to now because of cutbacks in staff levels. We had no complaints with our room stewards as they did their best to service us. Food in the Windjammer was mostly disappointing as it consisted of cafeteria style food such as stews, pies and things obviously utilised from leftovers the previous night. The carved meats were average at best although the lamb chops served on one night were magnificent. The menus and service in the main dining room were a disappointment for us, so much so that we ended up dining in the specialty restaurants most of the time where the service was much more efficient and the quality of food markedly better. I am sure that this is what the cruise lines are all attempting to achieve as they create RSL style menus in the free of charge dining rooms and as I said earlier constantly push the packages The daily activities consisted of the usual trivia, napkin folding etc YAWN! and the entertainment staff were nothing special. The price of Bingo is getting out of hand now US$33.00 for 4 games to me is outrageous especially when the prizes, bar the last day are so pathetic and nowhere near the amount being sold. Drink prices likewise for Australians are exorbitant as everything is in US$ plus an 18% tip. Give us a break. The so called Customer service desk needs to learn what that actually means. As an example on the morning of our departure from the ship we received our account at 6:30 in the morning after a phone call from us to the desk asking why we still hadn't received it. Upon examination I noticed that it said we had agreed to let the ship do the currency conversion for us. Yeah right! at their conversion rate I don't think so. At the desk we were told we needed to prove that we didn't ask them to do it, we should have a copy of this, we should have asked for a print out earlier, nothing can be done, basically bad luck, suck it up. The total arrogance and unwillingness to rectify the issue left us stunned.
