We are small ship cruise veterans, but this was our first Viking River Cruise. The cruise started and ended in Paris with a round trip to Rouen on the Seine. The staff was very friendly and motivated to go the extra mile. The ship was very nice and comfortable. The fine dining was an emphasis. We picked the cruise to see the D-day landing site, the long drive and schedule did not allow us to see as much as we would have wanted. We did see a movie on the temporary harbor, a nazi gun emplacement, the US memorial at Omaha beach, and got down to a public beach along Omaha Beach that had a monument. We would have liked to see the American D-Day museum and Utah beach and related Normandy sites. We enjoyed Monet's gardens and a hands-on class on impressionism and day and a half in Rouen. While we were enjoying the history of Normandy, we were pleasantly surprised by a high tech laser light show against the facade of Notre Dame of Rouen. The guided tour of Versailles was fantastic despite being the only crowd scene we encountered.

Bottom line: Great trip for enjoying the highlights of Normandy, however, if you want to see D-day landing sites thoroughly, find a separate trip.
