We chose this cruise because of the excellent 2 week Norwegian itinerary and our positive history of previous Holland America cruises--the last one being 3-4 years ago.

Pre and post embarkation transportation/transfers was flawless.

The ship is old--but clean and well appointed.

Cabin Review

Vista Suite

Cabin AA

We choose a stern view balcony cabin and were pleased to pay the extra money for this room. It was comfortable and the views were extraordinary (especially seeing the Northern Lights). The area directly above our cabin was the Retreat which was barely used because of the generally rainy cold weather. There was one day with sun and on that day we heard loud scraping noises when chairs were moved and could hear everyone walking around above us. We had brought our portable white noise machine--which was invaluable.

Port Reviews

Alesund

The ship docks right in town--you get off the ship and are minutes away from the center of town. This is a delightful Art Nouvou city that you can easily get around. The hop on hop off bus and the "trolley tour train" are located right off the ship and are reasonable and both feature free Wi-fi. These are reasonable options if it is cold, rainy, or windy or if you just don't feel like walking.
