Star Princess - Voyage of the Glaciers

We started our journey at 4 am on a Saturday in mid-September and drove to the Savannah airport. Parking for eight days would cost us $83 at the end of the trip. We flew to Chicago and then walked a mile through O'Hare before a six hour flight to Anchorage. It was then a 90 minute bus ride to Whittier through the strangest tunnel in the world, barely big enough for the bus. Our driver played the theme to "Indiana Jones" as we made the six minute trek. We arrived, got on the Star Princess and sailed that night after an informal dinner in the Portofino dining room.

We ate in the dining room three nights, Sabbatini's, an Italian specialty restaurant one night and paid to have a fondue night which was well-worth the price. Two other nights we dined at the buffet which is where we also had breakfast. We also enjoyed the hamburger/hotdog grill on Deck 14 and the ice cream bar. It was so great to go out and enjoy the sights all the time that we rarely stayed in our stateroom. This was our sixth cruise but first with Princess and we were pleased with the service of the room stewards and wait staff. Everyone went out of their way to help at all times. Read more
