I had a few friends who went on the Getaway before me and expressed some concerns but I found most of them to be untrue. I have never been on Norwegian before so had some hesitation but wanted a newer ship and the Getaway is only a few years old. We took our 4 year old girls and my parents on the boat so we were mainly looking for a family oriented trip.

Overall Ship

The ship is built in 2013 so it's brand new and feels that way. I liked the design, it was easy to get around, and it makes a big difference to be on a new boat compared to a 10-15 year old boat. They have a Norwegian app you can download (do it before trip) and get unlimited texts and calls to anyone on the cruise for $8 for the whole trip. We used this the whole trip.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MX

Room slept four with a sofa bed and pull down bunk bed for kids. Balcony was small, bathroom is a little bigger than a balcony room. My parents had a balcony room and there was really no difference except for the extra pull down bunk bed.

Only issue I have is the air conditioner. My daughter got a horrible cough and my wife and I were pretty sick by the end of the cruise. The air runs all night and it's dry. I think that is why we god a little sick. Not sure what you can do to avoid it.
