My two kids (17 & 12) and I cruised with friends who had three kids (11, 9, & 4). We all had an amazing time!! I have cruised a couple of times before - once with Norwegian over 20 years ago, and once with Celebrity. I knew I would love it even after reading mixed reviews. I think people are more likely to write a review if they have something to complain about.
I'll start with the cabin. We were in an inside stateroom and my daughter and I were pleasantly surprised at the size of the room. The last hotel we stayed in was in Paris, and those rooms are tiny! We had plenty of room to unpack all of our clothes and store our luggage. I brought along one of those plastic shoe hangers with pockets for more storage and hung it off the end of the bunk bed. Having this helped the three of us keep organized. I also brought a power strip to charge our multiple devices and an iron. (There is a hairdryer in every room). I also packed two cases (28 bottles) of water in with our luggage. My husband couldn't believe how heavy the luggage was, so I told him what I packed. We saw several people bringing cases of water not packed away. My girlfriend's case ripped open, and the water bottles came out. I was able to fit three water bottles in the mini bar without having to take anything out. Two cases were more than enough - I actually brought about ten bottles home - and I had even shared about ten bottles with our friends. There are complimentary drinks available at dispensers (flavored water, lemonade, iced tea, orange juice, apple juice)- there was a different combination of choices. I also brought along a duffle bag of snacks for the kids. Even though you can get food around the clock, there were times when they just wanted crackers or cookies.
The service was wonderful! Everyone was happy to help and very friendly. The washy washy, happy happy, hand sanitizer people were among our favorite staff members.
The beach was beautiful! If you have goggles at home, bring them along for the kids. I rented a mask for my son (it came with the snorkeling package - $16 - but he only used the mask). I also rented a huge tube for the kids. They loved it! Wear water shoes!! There are sharp rocks in the water that hurt if you step on them, which you will!
