We have not travelled on the Costa line for 3 years and the change was beyond belief. No carafe water was served in the dining room at any time. Bottled water was available, of course, at a cost and including a service charge. Tea and coffee were available at breakfast, but not at lunch or dinner, unless one was prepared to pay for specialist drinks.
The buffet closed at 5 p.m. for everything except iced water, (no hot water available after this time). We do not drink alcohol or soft drinks so this made it more difficult.
Food quality was very poor. One lunch time we left the dining room, after an inedible meal, and were so hungry we had to go to the buffet. There was no steak served at any time, in the dining room, and one could have prawns or lobster, but at a price-- this in the ordinary dining room. We remember the quality and variety of the meals that used to be served, and it seems such a shame that it has deteriorated so badly.
We had two cabins and the service was good
Tour to Genoa cancelled. However we had a very pleasant day exploring Savona.
Tour again cancelled but took shuttle and again had a pleasant day, lots to see and do.
Not a lot of time here but a very pleasant place.
Took shuttle, again lots to see and do.
Again walked and enjoyed our stay.
Lovely place again. Very strenuous walk up the hill to the castle, but very expensive for entry, just to see the view. A highlight was the fruit stall up there, great cherries and strawberries.
Took shuttle into Porto. Very interesting walk down the hill, then took tuktuk up again to Cathedral (great views) and railway station. This is a must see station.
Took ship tour to Santiago de Compostela. Good day, saw some countryside, and Santiago is interesting with a great cathedral. Good meal too.
Took tourist bus to castle but road to cliffs closed to buses. Tried to walk there but poorly signed, and, like many more, ended up miles away. Town itself not very well kept and we were disappointed.
