This cruise took us to places that we would never get to visit otherwise, a truly once a life time experience. The North Cape, midnight sun and Geiranger Fjord are all unforgetable. We ate mostly at the main dining room.

Food: Steak and fish at dinner are all excellent. Breakfast and lunch in the dining room have extra items, such as shrimp cocktail, whole strawberries and made to order tossed salad, at lunch, in addition to ordering from the menu. It is easier to get a seat there than trying to find a table at the Windjammer on Deck 11, as people want to see the views from there. Our party of ten (siblings and spouses between ages of 54-66) were able to sit together at all meals with My Time Dining.

Service: Staff was always friendly and really seemed to want to see that the guests enjoy their time on board. We appreciate that there was no corkage fee on the wine bottles we brought to the dining room. The ship is on the older side, but well maintained.

Cabin Review

Interior Stateroom

Our inside cabins on Deck 8 are more spacious than other inside cabins we occupied on previous cruises. We are glad that our travel agent chose for us cabins away from the Centrum as the noise of the evening entertainment would be very loud there.

Port Reviews

Copenhagen

We stayed at the Scandia Palace Hotel. Its location cannot be better, and the breakfast buffet was great. We highly recommend the 3 hr walking tour from City Hall Plaza. It has no fees, but the tour guide earned our tips. Friday evening at Tivoli was a true Copenhagen experience. We took the Netto boat canal tour, but walked to everywhere else from our hotel. We took the recommendation of our walking tour guide to visit the National Museum to see the history exhibits and the Christiansborg Palace to enjoy the view from the tower. Admission is free for both.

Geiranger

This is the most beautiful port on the cruise. The views from sailing through the fjord were awesome. We arranged a minibus tour to the Dalsnibba view point prior to sailing, as there were two cruise ships in port that day. We walked to the waterfalls afterwards.

Tromso

We bought day passes on the public bus for 100 NK eacg. We enjoyed the visit to the Polaria, and took the Mount flaya Cable Car. The view was good up there, but very cold and windy.

Bergen

We took the free shuttle bus to city center, and splurged at the fish market. I bought a nice wooden bowl with the Norwegian Rosemaling at the flea market. We then took the blue bus to take the Mt Ulriken aerial tramway with the combination ticket. We had lamb burger and fish soup the restaurant on top. The fish soup has mussels and veggies in addition to fish, and came with nice bread.

Alesund

We took the little tourist train to the viewpoint instead of walking up the steps. We then walked around to the light house and did a little shopping. It is a reasonable place to pick up extra warm clothes, if you did not pack enough, or if the air/cruise transfer lost your luggage. I heard that at least a few passengers did not get their lost luggage until six days into the cruise, and so they have to buy clothes here on the third day of the cruise.
