"Roatan is a miserable place....don't get off the ship, unless you have a shore excursion booked", so said the Captain over the PA system. This became quite an opportunity for comedic fodder the rest of the cruise. "I wouldn't take my mother to Roatan, but I would take my mother-in-law." By the way...we don't agree with his assessment.
A bit about us, we are a married couple in our late thirties without any kids. This was our 20th cruise, only the 3rd cruise with NCL. We have been on Celebrity, Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess and NCL. We are people who like to be doing activities most of the time.
This time of year, we were probably taking a chance, but we flew into Miami the day of embarkation. We arrived at the pier at 11:00 am, quickly got thru security and check in, but were not allowed onto the ship until right before noon. We sat waiting patiently, but with a great deal of excitement. Finally at noon, they let us on, took our picture and handed us a glass of champagne. Let the fun begin...
