I think it is important to provide a frame of reference for a review. We are not big cruisers but that being said, I favorite vacation was a Paul Gauguin south Pacific cruise. We are not Caribbean people but normally head to the south seas when we want beach time. We are also go with the flow type of people. We took this cruise for the Panama Canal. I will try and compare the Tere Moana to the PG where it makes sense since the Tere Moana draws the majority of it's cruisers from the PG.

The Tere Moana is a small ship. A very small ship. Our cruise only had 78 people on it. That means that you are going to speak at least once it everyone. We met many interesting and entertaining people. I would say that our fellow cruisers were the best entertainment on board. There ages ranges from 40's to 80's but all ages intermingled and enjoyed each other. You will them better traveled and to very interesting areas of the world. No one participates in the roll calls so you will not be getting to know others before hand. I think your fellow cruisers can either make or break your cruise. If you get stuck with a bad bunch, there is no way to isolate yourself from them except in your cabin. We had a excellent group witch made it fun.

While we had a great cruise, there is one issue that PG needs to address on the Tere Moana and that is communication. I don't mean like internet but from the company and crew to the cruisers. Bad or no information was rampid. An example. Our documents said we couldn't board until 3:00. We went around 2:45 because we were tired of sitting around the hotel lobby only to find out the information on board says boarding starts at 1:00. Small but it mounts up with each item until we had a mountain of mis-communications. I do think that Captain and crew did a good job when things went wrong and finding work arounds in all areas except the excursion area. The excursion area was a disaster. That area really needs to be re-thought. The bridge was opened more than I remember on the PG.

Cabin Review

Cabin B

I found for the most part the room to be comfortable. The storage was brilliant. We didn't even use all of it. It does feel a little more crowded than the PG room. You get a small table and chair at the end of the bed that you are forever tripping over. There is one more chair at the desk. The closet had more long hanging area than the PG. The little refrigerator only provides water, soft drinks and beer. There was no bottle in your cabin like the PG. The bed was very comfortable. The bath room was very small we found it very usable. I liked the round shower instead of the bath. They had a hair blower on the wall that is worthless but also provided a regular one also. The window was smaller than a similar room on the PG. Plugs are an issue. There is only one 110 but I had brought along an adapter so could use the 220 plug also. I really liked the location of the room. The Deck 4 made everything very convenient.
