I'll begin with Embarkation. We arrived at about 1:00pm, and although it was not a bad experience, all things were not equal. The first-time cruisers and repeat cruisers were divided into two separate lines, which is great, because being a repeat customer, it initially makes you feel special. But then reality sets in. We began to notice how fast the other line was moving, which made us realize that the other line had 2/3 of the customer service reps checking them in, making the repeat customers' line move very slowly. We understand that NCL is trying to make a good impression on first-time cruisers, but that shouldn't be at the expense of their repeat folks. Eventually, a bunch of people in the repeat customers' line were moved over to the other line to speed things up a bit. Fortunately, we were among those who were moved, making the check-in process from beginning to walking on the ship probably taking only 30-45 minutes.

This was our second NCL cruise, and the first for this itinerary. As others have commented, the ship is older but well-kept. It is a smaller ship, without a lot of the "bells & whistles", but if you hate crowds like we do, then this is the way to go (only about 1800 passengers). We splurged for this trip and stayed in a mini-suite (1012) which was wonderful; about 100 sq. ft. more than an outside balcony cabin and conveniently located forward of the fitness center on deck 11. I highly recommend the mini-suites.

It was our experience that the staff on this ship is absolutely top quality, and for the most part, every request is attempted to be fulfilled and done so with a smile. Of course, there are "those" in every crowd, be they passengers or staff, whose lives must be miserable, as evidenced by their words or actions, and you just have to pity and say a prayer for them and forget them. Fortunately they are few. I read several comments/reviews about the Cruise Director, Richard Matic, and his staff and how fantastic they are, and after meeting and observing them all, I'd have to agree. I wish I had just half of Richard's energy and enthusiasm. He and his Assistant, Patrick, seem to be everywhere at once, infecting their smiles and energy on everyone. They all danced and lead what was almost a "pep rally" at the White Hot Party one night. Fuuun!

Cabin Review

We decided to splurge and get a mini-suite this cruise. We were well-pleased with this room. Had a good-sized bathroom/changing area with a full-sized bathtub and plenty of room everywhere else. GREAT convenient location, directly forward of Spa/Fitness Center. We wouldn't spend the extra money every time, but for an occasional splurge, it was perfect.
