This was our 3rd cruise. We had read many bad reviews about the Sunshine, but we decided to book it anyhow because we know people will complain about the smallest things. Well, this time the bad reviews were right. The sewage smell on the 4th floor where the Picture gallery is was so bad at times, we couldn't go see our photos for a couple of days. Going down to the gangway to get off the ship in the ports was awful. You had to cover your nose from the awful smell. The food in the buffet was the same food everyday and not much of a variety at all. The dining room had a great menu selection every day and the service is always excellent. Also, on the top floor there are only lounge chairs. The only tables and chairs are in the eating areas. We didn't want to lay on loungers, we wanted to sit outside at a table with chairs. That might seem petty, but we are not sunbathers and we like to sit on chairs with a table so you can see. The service and staff were excellent as always. We didn't care for the Cruise Director. She didn't spend any time out on the pool deck area where there were a few activities. She hosted the game shows, the morning show and a few parties, but we didn't see her out and about. Not a big deal that she wasn't around I guess. The previous cruises we took, the CD was all over mingling with the guests. The thing that really topped it off was when the CD was hosting a game show, she made a joke about the missing Malaysian plane. NOT FUNNY. One of the contestants chose the plane for her Monopoly piece. When asked by the CD why she chose the plane, the girl replied " We flew in from San Diego and the airlines lost our luggage" The CD laughed and responded "well at least you didn't originate from Malaysia" Twice she made disrespectful comments about the Canadian flag. I guess it was an inside joke, but we didn't get it. It was rude and there were many Canadians on the ship. Lastly, there was a Murder Mystery. It was played out for about 8 days of the cruise. You had to get clues from the suspects and solve cryptograms. This took quite a bit of time to do. On the morning that the winner was to be announced, she decided that because so many people got the answer wrong, nobody got it right. She blatantly lied and said no one got it right. There were 2 correct conclusions. One was from a woman who entered 17 times (disqualified because we were only allowed one entry per cabin) The other was our family, but she would not admit it. What a waste of our time!!! So, it wasn't a terrible cruise because the service is good, the ship is clean and the rooms are clean, but I will never sail on the Sunshine again.
