Sail Date: Feb 2014

Just spent a week on the new Norwegian Getaway and NCL has yet another winner on their hands. The Getaway is the best ship I've sailed on yet.

I've read up enough on the Breakaway to feel like I had a decent idea on what to expect on the Getaway. However, my expectations were beyond exceeded. First, embarkation was smooth at Port of Miami as usual. Then we were unleashed onto the ship. Not every person we encountered was smiling. Even better...they were all extremely willing to help. I can't say I met one staffer that wasn't warm and friendly when approached. Even though these are the first sailings, the staff told me they've already been on board for months. Trust me, There were no kinks in service.

That's not say dinner didn't take about 2 hours each night. But dinner was a highlight each day. The service in the main dining rooms was impeccable, we had a good time talking and laughing (went with a group of 8 people), and the courses were spaced out pretty nicely. And the FOOD. I've cruised on Norwegian Epic and Norwegian Sky before and the food on this ship is better than ever. The beef dishes are more tender than I remember on previous ships, everyone's food was always hot (which is an issue I've had on past ships in main dining rooms. Sometimes I'd prefer to the buffet for this reason). But not here.. I mostly ordered the fish dishes each night and from salmon to mahi mahi, I had zero complaints. I couldn't imagine how much better the fish in Ocean Blue could be to warrant the $49. I didn't get to try it but am hoping to in the future.

Cabin Review

Not large by any means but perfectly designed. Lots of storage space. Never felt crowded for 2 and could have probably fit a third comfortably. Bathroom, imo, is the best for a balcony out of the three NCL ships I've been on.
