A 1 night cruise aboard pre-inaugural Norwegian Getaway was too good an opportunity to pass up, so we joined her yesterday on a sunny January day in Southampton, the port unusually quiet after the departure of all the world cruises.

We were delayed a little before embarkation began, due to the ship's late arrival, but once the process started, we were speedily trying to get a proper look at the huge hull painting Miami artist David Lebo Batard, with its surf and mermaids. We found our way to our outside, forward facing cabin, functional, pleasantly spacious, with neutral and turquoise decor a well thought out bathroom, with nicely curved, decent storage shelves and proper shower cubicle.

As it was lunchtime, we decided against totally casual dining, but settled for the O'Sheehans pub, choosing salads and traditional fish and chips. There is a limited, available 24 hours , pub menu, served by cheerful staff.

Cabin Review

Pleasant, comfortable, but fairly spartan.
