As well travelled Silversea passengers we decided to try Seabourn on a twenty day Mediterranean cruise which had a very appealing itinerary, we had a pre cruise stay in Athens before boarding our ship the Seabourn Quest, we met many other passengers at our hotel who had travelled many times before with Seabourn and told us we would enjoy the experience.

The Quest is a beautiful ship very well designed with a well thought layout for days at sea, there is the main pool deck, another small pool area at the stern, hot tub on the bow and the “Retreat” on top of deck 11, a nice quiet place to relax with double sun beds. Our veranda suite was of good size and very clean but for a six star ship we did expect bath sheets and not towels in our bathroom.

Unfortunately you do compare ships and service apart from the entertainment onboard there are many negatives when compared with Silversea, our biggest complaint revolves around the service and food, we did have three staff issues with the restaurants two being staff were very rude and one tapping a guest on the shoulder telling them to hurry up and choose a desert we consider to be inappropriate. The food was very bland together with the poor choice of deserts and cheese boards, we found throughout the three restaurants onboard the menus were different but the ingredients were the same and after ten days into our cruise the same menus appeared again, according to a member of staff the menu for that day is the same on the combined fleet of Seabourn ships so our Chef Franck only has to prepare food to the Seabourn schedule which is not very creative for a Chef, more like the same procedure at McDonalds.
