There were a lot of positives on this cruise, the cabins were really nice, the cabin crew very friendly and they worked really hard to please. The empire restaurant in the evenings was excellent, we utilised the anytime dining which was on level 3 and it was always good, the staff attentive and the food excellent. I could not say that for the LaPlaya Restaaurant on level 9, too many stations which made it confusing, not enough space to move around, food was often luke warm and looked like poor cafeteria style, not very appealing, you needed to find your own cutlery and spoons were not included necessitating another forage into the area. Overal the decore was eye shattering, very ugly, and far too busy, that could be said for the Pharoh lounge and the versaille lounge. Entertainment was poor, the singers couldn't sing, why were they employed, get someone better, one good stage show was the last show called New Orleans, pity because the theatre was only half full, most people on board complaining openely about the "crap shows" so why was the director "Skip" surprised there were so few there. The comedy shows went for a max of 35 mins, I have seen many comediens that did not have to rely on foul language and crudity to be funny and who can sustain a comedy revies for longer. On board were 3 grand pianos, none were in use, so very little engaging entertainment.

I like to use the gym early, there were signs on the equipment which said not available until 8am, as was the sauna and steam room or towel bar. The whirlpool in the gym area was never filled for the 7 day cruise. The dome pool was incorrectly named as the dome was on for only 2 days out of the 7. On the kids deck the green water slide was rarely operating as was the yellow. Lots of kids using the other pools jumoing splashing etc... with no-one supervising the. All of the whirlpools were closed until 8am and each day I had to ask for the staff to open them, this was met with a phone call to the supervisor, it was not very friendly.

The crew seemed to not know what was happening and a lot of mis information was given, the day before we docked in Port Arthur the announcement was made re the ticketing for the tenders, no deck number given. On arival at the reception to get a ticket we were then told to go to deck 9, at no stage were we told where the tender left from despite asking, finally we found the diesmbarkation point on deck 2 with one sign. Upon asking a crew member why was it was so poorly signed we were told there were crew on each stair well to direct...no there was not!!!!!!!Similarly at disembarkation in Sydney we were told to go to assmble on deck 3 , then a very rude crew member said go to 2, which we did, then we got sent to 3 where a rude female crew member told us we were in the wrong line and to go to midships, thankgoodness a second female crew member stopped us and told us we were in the right place and to exit at this point, the cruise ship needs to get this right the first time.

Cabin Review

Balcony (obstructed views)

Cabin 7A

5144 twin share, bathroom very small, if you opened the wardrobe door the person in the bathroom could not get out. Door into cabin very narrow and so heavy, needed to use my should against it to open it. The balcony was great, restricted view but as the life boat was below you could see out easily. Air con in room very noisy, switched it to low, cabin crew attempted to fix it, the bathroom fan on all the times, very head ache material, this couldn't be switched off. TV was a shocker, nothing on, only one free movie, you had to pay for others, same old info about the ship replayed, very boring and substandard service. Plenty of wardrobe and drawer space for 2 people, couch made up into a bed, wouldn't want three people in the room, not big enough, but ok for two people on a 7 day cruise. Lots of light, the bathroom had a magnified make up mirror, that was good, aussie power points, hairdryer underpowered you would need your own if you had should length hair.Positioned by the lifts up to deck 9 at the front of the ship, very handy to everything.
