This was the first cruise for my wife and I as we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Embarkation was efficient and well-handled. Although the Maasdam is beginning to show its age in some areas, the ship is clean and well-maintained. I am not aware of the ship having any mechanical problems although, according to the cruise log, it never sailed at its full speed of 22 knots. Some vibration was noticeable, but having never sailed before, I don't know if it was excessive or not.

Our cabin, a mini-suite on the verandah deck, was well apportioned with plenty of closet and storage space. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept on.

Every member of the crew, especially our room steward, that I met were friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. The dining room stewards were terrific and added greatly to the enjoyment of the meal. The food in both the dining room and the Lido was delicious and well presented. The entertainment shows included musicals and variety/comedy. All the acts were good, although not quite the professional level some would probably expect.
