We booked this cruise as a getaway/40th anniversary celebration. Our daughter was married 9/15, the last houseguest left on 9/18 and we flew to Seattle 9/21 and boarded the Infinity. It was raining when we got to Seattle so we abandoned our plans to tour the city and went directly to the cruise terminal. We were first in line to go through security but did not board first as they took the suite passengers ahead of us(we're Elite). Embarkation went well, no major delays, and we were allowed to bring our carryon to our cabin and met our steward before heading to the buffet for lunch. We were on the ship before noon.

We love Celebrity, with a few caveats. Corners are being cut so some of the niceties we had become used to are no longer there, such as water pitchers in the cabins, dessert tray display in the main dining room, etc. Minor things, but they set Celebrity apart from what we consider "lesser" cruiselines.

We've been on 2 sister ships of the Infinity (Summit and Constellation) so we knew our way around pretty well. We knew the ship had been in drydock for Solsticizing last November, so we expected it to be in tiptop shape. It wasn't. The Solsticizing added the Aquaclass cabins and Qsine (profit centers) but there was no refurbishing of the rest of the ship. There were holes in the floor under the carpet in the Trellis dining room, worn furniture in the United States dining room and several lounge areas, cracked tiles and worn grouting in our shower area, rust on the steps to the Thalassotherapy pool (and one of the 2 bubblers did not work at all during the cruise)and other places around the exterior, dirty windows, dusty blinds in the USS dining room, etc. This ship needs work!

Cabin Review

Inside Stateroom 9

Cabin 09

Long walk to dining but close to theater and pools. This was actually good as we were forced to walk and get some exercise.

Small interior cabin but very little noise as there's no neighbor on one side. There is a crew access door right next door so sometimes you'd hear the crew coming and going but not often.

High up so you do feel the rocking more than on lower decks, but that does not bother us.

There were cracked tiles and some dirty-looking grout on the lower part of the shower.

When you book a guaranty, you take what you get.
