We were so impressed with our first cruise on the Rhine with Avalon, the service and the ships were superb. We always wanted to visit the South of France and this was an opportunity to do so in luxury. The Poetry II was a newer ship and the staterooms were a little larger and the bathroom was beautiful. First night hotel in Monte Carlo then a four hour coach ride the following day to pick up our ship in Arles, in fact it took over 5 hours because of a crash on the motorway!

We choose Avalon because of the cabins on the boats. They are larger than most of the other river boats. The outside wall is literally glass from ceiling to floor.
