The thing that made Holland stand out from other Cruise lines and was a tradition is now gone.
On every Holland ship you could count on there would be a Priest. But now you are like any other cruise line a real disappointment.
Embarkation was a slow painful process it seems that Vancouver is becoming harder and harder to board. The ship was fine and the personnel were pleasant and ...
We’re back cruising again! This cruise is fundamentally different than the dozen or so others that we’ve been on, as it’s the first one “sailing” north that we’ve been on, and by north I mean we’ll end up at Denali National Park in Alaska and not dealing with tropical heat. In fact, parts of Denali are above the Arctic Circle.
You can’t actually cruise to Denali as it’s deep in Alaska’s ...
We chose this cruise as family members had sailed the year before on the exact same ship, same time of year and same itinerary. Based on their pictures and commentary we decided to give this cruise a try. HUGE MISTAKE!
We booked a Neptune Suite and stayed two nights pre cruise at PanPacific Hotel in Vancouver. This hotel is amazing and we highly recommend for pre or post cruise ...
We chose Holland America line as we were told it was the best value in our price range. Overall the cruise was good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Premium restaurants were great and were very accommodating. Main dining and buffet is as you would expect. Entertainment was good but didn’t offer any real variety and with a ship full of folks everything was crowded. The excursions were the best part ...
We chose this cruise for the itinerary and our previous experience on the Rotterdam, last summer.
Overall, the cruise was average, with a lot of hit and misses.
The embarkation process in Vancouver was awful…hours in lines..3 times through customs, no explanations or set expectations as to how long this would take.
Weather was poor for the first week and gale force winds caused the ship ...
We are 5 star mariners and cruised on this ship 10 times in past 3 years. Went to Kodiak but when arrived sea was too rough to board the port pilot so went on to Anchorage. For 6 hours we had a 70mph side wind with difficulty walking in our Neptune Suite. Interesting experience as no rocking back and forth so no seasick passengers. Rest of cruise was normal with normal ports and good weather. ...
I chose Holland America for its good reputation. My cruise experience was very unpleasant and difficult. My cabin-mate got noro-virus, as did one-third to half the people in our tour group, and many other people on the ship. It was not being spread between cabin mates, so it must have been spread through dining services. I was told by medical that I was responsible for caring for my cabin mate, ...
This was our fifth cruise on HAL and we were looking forward to a 14 day trip to Alaska with new ports and a return to Glacier Bay. I dislike starting a review with a negative but please stick around - it gets much better. Embarkation was a nightmare - almost three hours of waiting in numerous lines. Just when we thought we reached the end of a long line, we were directed to another line for a ...
To be honest this was our first cruise. We chose hal because of its past reputation with Alaska cruises. Let me say right away, Alaska and Glacier Bay were outstanding. if you ever get a chance to visit Glacier Bay you must do it. It rates up there with Banff. However use another cruise line.
Embarkation took three hours plus, thousands of folks stuck in one building being shuffled around like ...
We will not be cruising with Holland America again and most defiantly not from Vancouver 5 hours it took of queuing and being herded around to being ushered to find our own cabins with the key in the door no explanations or greetings cabin was ok just what we had booked.
Ques every time time we wanted to get to customer services as soo many people complaining , the lifts were dirty clearly not ...
