Dining at sunset on formal night. We dressed but many folks did not. We wished we didn't also (less clothes to pack!)

Not a Fun Cruise

Review for a Caribbean - All Cruise on Independence of the Seas

This was our 30th cruise and by far the worst. Embarkation was delayed and there was not one announcement telling us how long we would have to wait. I later learned it was because the previous cruise was for heavy metal fans only, so tons of equipment had to be offloaded and the cabins took longer to clean! The weather was terrible - very cool with torrential downpours. Obviously the ...

Overall, a great charter cruise on Independence of the Seas.

This cruise on the Indy was a music charter called 70,000 Tons of Metal, including 60 bands on 4 stages on the ship, with each band performing twice. A giant stage is constructed on the main pool deck and the pool itself is drained and decked over, creating the largest stage at sea. This was my second consecutive year attending the charter, although last year's journey was aboard Liberty of the ...

Great First Time Cruise

We just returned from our first ever cruise. We are a family of three (myself, daughter - 8, and wife). We tend to be active and the two adults are pseudo-foodies; what that means is that we like a wide variety of foods but have reasonable expectations. I've read a number of the reviews and can only think that people either have unrealistic expectations or are just natural complainers. The ...

This was our 18th cruise with RCI, and the Independence of the Sea's was great. We have sailed on her sister ship (Liberty of the Sea's) 3 times before and loved it. Being Diamond members boarding the ship was easy. Our balcony room was not ready until 1:00 , so we had plenty of time to have lunch and walk around. We chose My Time dining It was fantastic. We requested a table for 2 and ...

For the last few years we have mostly sailed on the Liberty of the Seas and were sad to see it move to Galveston this Fall. The last time we were on the Indy was Dec. 2009 and we were not overly impressed with staff nor food. Since we like 5 nighters from Fort Lauderdale we had to go back to the Indy. Well, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff with few exceptions were very pleasant, helpful ...

I'm not going to say; I'm still too upset with the trip Royal Carribean's Independence of the Seas took from Ft. Lauderdale to Cozumel and then on to Casa Maya and return. Entertainment was great and that was all the good we experienced. We arrived to board at 1 pm and stood in hot sunny line for 2 and 1/2 hours without moving at all. We were never given an apology, an explanation or any ...

We have been on several cruises in the past but by far this was the worst. First the gangway was broke so they couldn't get the other guest off he ship, so we sat there in the port from 11 till almost 5 before we got onto the ship. We were not told why we weren't boarding until shortly before we got on. Everyone was hungry and thirsty and they didn't even offer water. when w got on they told ...

Arrived at 1:00 pm to board. There was a very long line. No one could get on board even though boarding time was from 12 to 3(?). There was some hangup with immigration I think since we were never told what was going on. In fact, we were ignored by Royal Caribbean until about 3:30 and we, along with many others, were in the sun with no water. The doors opened around this time and we started ...

As a first time cruiser on Royal Caribbean, I have cruised on Carnival about four times, I was surprised at how bad it really was. My mom is a Diamond member and really talked up the cruise on Royal Caribbean. Unfortunately we were both really disappointed with the reality of the cruise. The staff was really unhappy and the first person we talked to at guest services did nothing but complain ...

Embarkation: Long lines but went quickly. Should have taken my small suitcase on board myself. Steward: Good. Met all demands except we didn't have any breakfast cards in our room. Food. I am a foodie. You will not get a gourmet meal on a cruise. The food in the buffet was cafeteria style. Hard to find food with quality. The ham on the bone in the morning was good. The Indian food was ...
