Open dining? No thanks.

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Queen Victoria

Despite paying the Cunard Fare and having second sitting dining confirmed, we were forced into open dining. Maitre’d was unable to assist and seemed very stressed. Overheard many comments of a similar nature. There are not enough staff on board to provide proper service. The staff who are on board are run off their feet and look miserable. Waits of 30 minutes in the Commodore Club. Queues ...

Northern Lights success

We chose this cruise hoping to see the Northern Lights but the warnings come thick and fast once you are aboard that it is a 1 in 10 chance of success. However...on a ship's tour from Tromso we had success. The night before an announcement came from the Captain at 2am that the Lights were visible and we joined the rush to the top deck to see the display with was minimal so delighted to see them on ...

Perfect in every way

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Queen Victoria

Chose cunard because previous experience has shown us that it excels in all regards, food, service, entertainment , covid precaustions etc service and customer awareness. It did not dissappoint. Calibre of other passengers mirrors these attributes. A bit more expensive but you get what you pay for. Smaller size compared to many nowadays, 2000 paengers but makes for a more exclusive holiday. ...

Did not live up to expectations

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Queen Victoria

This was our first Cunard Cruise, we had high hopes: ship looks stylish, cabin comfortable, embarkation smooth. Drinks are seriously overpriced and service charges do not reflect the level of service delivered. on arrival we had wine but only one glass, no teaspoons for coffee and not enough milk. Food options are very limited compared to P&O and food is rather bland, unimaginative and ...

Met or exceeded our high expectations in Queen’s Grill

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Queen Victoria

First time on Cunard after 30+ cruises on other lines (mostly Seabourn, HAL, and Celebrity); this 4 day itinerary fit well with a week-long visit to London. Decided to splurge for a Queen’s Grill (Q5, 8181) aft suite, and felt it was worth every penny. Boarding was efficient, ship was immaculate, staff all around friendly and helpful, fellow shipmates were equally so. Had heard beforehand that ...

Dare To Dream....................We did!

A trip on Cunard had been on my bucket list for some time, after recently losing a couple of close friends way to early in their lives we decided it was time to start to realise some of our dreams before it was too late. As DH was very apprehensive about Cunard being too 'posh' and 'stuffy' we decide on short 7nt cruise on QV to the Fjords (QV221) long enough to warrant the long slog down south to ...

A short trip to Mull and back

We arrived at about 2pm ready for our boarding time of 2.15. It was a very smooth embarkation and we were on board by 2.30. To say the ship has just had a refit, I noticed some of the carpets needed to be replaced. Other than that everything seems to be up to the usual standard. It was nice to see that most of the facilities were open again. The service in all of the bars and the ...

NOT CUNARD NOT QUEEN VICTORIA

Review for a Baltic Sea Cruise on Queen Victoria

We have done more than 30 cruises with Cunard which has always been our first choice for cruising until now! We chose this cruise for the itinerary, including the scenic cruise through the Mull of Kintyre which was truly spectacular and a plus. Overall the cruise was a big disappointment primarily because the standard of service was not ‘White Star’. In the Princess Grill restaurant, the ...

Standards are Slipping

Review for a Europe - British Isles & Western Cruise on Queen Victoria

We have cruised regularly on Cunard cruises for 15 years. The service provided by the waiters, bar staff and our cabin steward was the usual high standard. The food in the Princess Grill in the evenings was good. However the hot meals in the self service Lido were invariably luke warm/cold. The cost of drinks has risen with a large glass of wine costing on average around 13 US dollars. Our ...

Staff Still Excellent - However Standards declining

We have been lucky to cruise many times with Cunard (like many of you) and other cruise companies we always chose Cunard for the standards and service, but the last 2 cruises post the Pandemic! have shown that they are making small cut backs, but blaming the pandemic!!!! Staff - Superb as always so attentive which we like, some may say its OTT, but compared to others that what to us makes ...
