Poor food selection and taste

Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

We don't fly so the QM2 is our way to return from Europe. This is the first time we have sailed with Cunard and I was very disappointed. First, the good parts, our cabin was very nice. We choose an inside cabin to try and settle our seasickness. We have a balcony cabin with NCL on the way over. The ship was clean and tidy. The bad, food selection was not good. The same kinds of food ...

Happily Much Improved

We've sailed on Cunard and the QM2 16 times, mostly ocean crossings, and have enjoyed 39 cruises overall. We love the QM2 because of unique ocean liner status, the gorgeous public rooms, and the scheduled Atlantic crossings. We completed 2 other crossings since Covid and were concerned with all sorts of problems that had cropped up such as untrained staff and broken equipment. But for this ...

So disappointing

We have sailed on 15+ voyages. We have sailed on Premium lines such as Celebrity, Princess, Holland America and now Cunard, we have sailed on a specialty brand, Star Clippers and Luxury brands, Crystal and Azamara, we are not new to sailing. I had a bucket list item to take a Transatlantic on a Cunard ship for over 40 years. I was diagnosed with stage four cancer, and realized, if I did not do ...

Not what I expected from Cunard

We chose this cruise because friends who live in the USA were boarding in New York and it was an ideal opportunity to meet up with them. The QM 2 is looking really tired but one can excuse that to some extent. We made a late booking so couldn’t get the cabin of our choice but really nothing to complain about our sheltered balcony cabin, plenty of storage and a comfy bed, our housekeeper, Hugo was ...

Big problems in the buffet

We chose the QM2 because husband, an engineer, wanted to experience the one and only Oceanliner. This was our first and only cruise on a Cunard ship. We actually were on the ship for 20 days—Southampton all the way to NYC. Every time we had breakfast or lunch in the buffet area it was a chaotic mess. And interestingly, we never received a survey from Cunard after completion of our cruise, so my ...

Great Cruise. Confusing Layout and Aging Infrastructure

Don't be frightened by this review. If you have already booked, you will not have a bad time on this cruise ship. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. HOWEVER, if you have not already booked, I suggest you consider another ship. The QM2 is aging and due for a re-ft later this year. There's a lot of rust and stains around deck, in restaurants and our cabin. It clearly shows the wear from all those ...

We wanted to complete an earlier world cruise, and so booked the 49 day Sydney to New York cruise. We love the QM2 and continue to love it. After the Covid pause we were a bit worried as to what shape the ship would be in, but we found it to be in good shape. Things are returning to normal. The ship was very clean, and the deck crew was putting a lot of time and effort into painting. As usual, ...

QM 2 REVISITED

We chose this cruise because it ended in Sydney where we spent a week with relatives. In 2017 we did a similar cruise on the same ship which started in Sydney and ended in Hong Kong. We stayed in in a sheltered balcony state room the state room was mid ships and we had a very stable cruise. The room was just below deck seven and sometimes we heard the noise of recliners moving. Overall the food ...

High expectations but instead disappointed

Review for a Asia Cruise on Queen Mary 2 (QM2)

Cabin review is below. Been on more than 10 cruises e.g. Celebrity, Princess, NCL, Costa, etc. Bottom line it is old and shows it. The ship itself if not impressive. Worse yet was staff. It seems like they was no synergy and each person acted on their own with little regard to customer service. At embarkation waited and given a color. Rows of seats. Once called e.g. red, person ...

We have done many cruises with mainly Princess (but also NCL, MSC, Costa, HAL) and thought we would try some other cruise lines. This cruise fitted a way of going to the far east without the long flight to begin with, as we set off from Dubai. We chose a sheltered cabin and were quite happy with that (although the sheltered cabins on HAL Westerdam (our follow on cruise from Singapore) were much ...
