Beautiful scenery, food disappointing

Review for American Harmony to U.S.A.

We wanted to cruise from Portland and see the river scenery. On this we were not disappointed. The scenery was gorgeous and the ship is beautiful. There are plenty of opportunities to grab beverages and snacks throughout the day, but the food in the dining room left a lot to be desired. Often food arrived barely warm and portions were often small - my husband joked that the prime rib was so thin ...

A Wonderful Surprise!

We had booked a fantastic European river cruise for September, 2021....and then cancelled because of the pandemic and fears of being "stuck" overseas if one of us became ill. So--what to do. The Columbia and Snake Rivers were unknown to us...except what we knew about the explorations of Lewis & Clark. And we would be in the US! The trip was beyond our expectations in every way, starting with the ...

We left Portland on July 28th so I believe ACL had some time to work on issues that previous passengers wrote about. The cabin was just right for the two of us. We were on the 2nd deck. I enjoyed all the food but I’m not a picky eater. Food service was fast and tasty and was never cold. I got to know as many of the servers because I enjoy meeting people and hearing where they are from. Some were ...

First the good points - the American Harmony is brand new, and the cabin & bathroom are a great size. The Housekeeping, Shore side & Excursion Teams were good. All the crew were courteous and friendly. Unfortunately the Restaurant team for the most part had no prior experience or training. Dinners were particularly disappointing in selection, quality, lack of imagination and limited options (3 ...

We had not traveled in over 2 years and wanted to do something "manageable" given some of our age/mobility issues. While we have taken 20 cruises throughout the years, this was the first completely American one - American built ship, all U.S.A. ports, etc. The ship is lovely and beautifully appointed. It manages to include many of the amenities one would find on a larger ship: small library, ...

Cruising on The Snake and Columbia Rivers

Wow! Best word that I can use to describe our wonderful trip aboard one American Cruise Lines newest ships, the American Harmony, as we sailed along the Columbia & Snake rivers during the middle of June this year. This eight day/seven night cruise along the same route of the famous Louis & Clark expedition of the early 1800's, exceeded all of our expectations regarding river cruising. Departing ...

Snake and Columbia River Cruise

I chose this cruise because of American Cruise Lines excellent reputation for first class service. The cruise was very expensive; however, sailing in the US appealed to me for safety reasons during the pandemic. I had anticipated a cultural and educational experience; however it was very disappointing. The service was poor, i.e. 2 hours waiting for lunch service to complete. Dining room service ...

Shrimp and Scallops was always Undercooked, One seafood stew was totally ...

We enjoy cruising and wanted to try one on a US river and thought this would be an ideal time. We selected American Cruise Lines Columbia River cruise. Our intention was to check it out and book 2 future river cruises to take advantage of onboard discounts. Pre-Cruise hotel was an appreciated feature and boarding was simple and well organized. Our cabin was clean, fresh and comfortable and very ...

We chose this cruise to explore a new area of the country. Having never visited the Pacific Northwest, we wanted to see where part of Lewis and Clark's expedition took them. The size of the ship allowed for an easy on and off, and ports where it docked were very close to areas of interest. The cruise line emphasized Covid prevention. Testing was performed before boarding, and very frequent ...
