This was our 3rd cruise with HAL. The first 2 were on Amsterdam,which immediatly set a high standard, which Volendam couldn't quite attain. More on that later.

This was our first and probably last trip with Holland America. We had previously done a 19 night trip with Cunard which we thoroughly enjoyed. The cruise ticked all the boxes when we booked. We boarded the Volendam in Hong Kong. Embarkation was a breeze and we were happy to hear that our cabins were ready even before noon.

Embarkation in Singapore was reasonably straight forward (in spite of being taken to the wrong cruise centre by the taxi driver). The only thing that could have been improved was the forms we had to fill out while standing in a mass of other guests.
Our cabin was fine apart from the fact we could barely see out of the window, a window clean now and again would not hurt HAL!
