Very nice, but with some flaws
"The vibrant central Grand Plaza was the heartbeat of the ship, featuring live music, large bar, and tons of trendy (though often uncomfortable) seating on several levels so that it didn't feel over-crowded.Unlike most ships, room service is NOT included (with the exception of a hotel-quality continental breakfast during limited morning hours) and a 20% gratuity is applied to all food, drink, and services - while also inviting you to tip individual servers for "exceptional service" above the 20%...."Read More

Ascent Review, it was good but not great!

Review for a Caribbean - Eastern Cruise on Celebrity Ascent

The ship is nice, we have done all the Edge class and liked this one a lot. Service was excellent, no complaints. We were in Aqua and liked it, as bed is by balcony. Food choices in Blu were not always to our liking so we opted at times for Normandy. Fine cut was incredibly good, my filet cut like butter. Oceanview Cafe was a typical buffet. We just wish the food wasn't cold. The desserts in the ...

Great ship but lots needed add-ons got expensive

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Celebrity Ascent

The Ascent is a very nice ship. Very modern, comfortable and didn't feel all that crowded except at the pool during days at sea and Ocean View Cafe during breakfast & lunch. We stayed in a Infinite Balcony cabin on deck 8 which allowed for more interior space than a typical balcony room but still allowed the balcony experience. I was skeptical of this concept but I really enjoyed it and would ...

Shipboard Struggles with Excessive Noise

Our recent voyage (sailing date of March 24th) aboard the Celebrity Cruise Ship Ascent left much to be desired. While there were aspects of the journey that were enjoyable, such as the exceptional service provided by most staff members, our experience was marred by significant issues. One of the main problems we encountered was the unbearable noise in our assigned room located on Deck12 in the ...

Warmth and Sun in the Caribbean

Wanted to get away from Midwest winter and experience beautiful new ship. Unfortunately chose Spring Break week which meant Fort Lauderdale was packed with many other ships besides ours leaving Sunday. Traffic from our hotel was awful but we finally got there. Embarkation was smooth and efficient. Since we were Concierge class we were able to have a sit down lunch onboard ship at the ...

The Celebrity Ascent: A Ship of Contrasts

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Celebrity Ascent

The Celebrity Ascent is a stunning ship with beautiful design in most areas. It has a modern, upscale feel that's truly enjoyable. However, there were a few shortcomings that surprised us, especially considering this is a new Celebrity ship. One frustration was the theater. We waited in line for a show in the top section of the Club, only to discover it had limited visibility. The layout seems ...

staff, facilities, shows, specialty restaurants great; travelling in Retreat Class which provides a private dining room, Luminaire, rather than the ships three main dining rooms; service was great: breakfast and lunch were fine, BUT not one good dinner; both the food and the cooking of same were very sub-par. staffing; wherever yo went, everyone was friendly and informative; room; nice ...

The ship is absolutely gorgeous! The terracing/ layered effect in the martini bar is awesome and the chandelier is beautiful. Having been on the Apex, we really like the sunset bar but appreciate the redesign with the little more space and the Moorish theme. The staff are incredibly attentive and it feels like they're a lot more of them than they're really are. My son and I also truly enjoy the ...

Amazing ship and service

I almost didn't go on this cruise but I'm glad I did! There was a last minute cancelation which allowed this to happen. The Ascent is beautiful and modern. Walking into it feels like walking into a high end club. I really appreciated the excellent service from our stateroom attendant, Edy. There are many nationalities on the ship that work very hard for a wonderful cruise for all of us. Please ...

Beautiful but…

You will be pleased with some of the over the top design and decor. You should like the service of the hard working crew, but will be not as pleased with some of the on board things. The food has dropped dramatically in quality in the dining rooms, but the pleasant staff try to make up for it with excellent service. The chefs need to back off the amount of salt. Entertainment continues ...

Best cruise out of 10+ (!)

Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Celebrity Ascent

Frequent cruiser; been on Carnival, RC, VV, NCL, MSC, in addition to Celebrity. Entertainment was fantastic; food was as good as you can expect on a cruise; ship was beautiful; staff was great; cabins well laid-out; embarkation was painless; all for a good price (we paid about $1k each for a balcony room). Only 3 complaints - so minor as to be laughable: 1. Toilet paper sucked. I know it's ...
