To see the upper Mississippi River, The scenery was wonderful, the ship and crew tremendous. We traveled through numerous canal locks which drew many families to witness our passing through. One stop even had a band to welcome the return of "steam ships" to the Upper Mississippi. Menu and food choices were good. Happy hour was special with good food and drinks. Entertainment was also good during ...

LOVED THIS RIVER CRUISE!!! Every meal was outstanding and the staff was incredibly attentive! We met so many new friends with the ability to sit with new people whenever you wanted. We loved the plantation tours and the USS Kidd in Baton Rouge. We already came home and watched Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte that was filmed in Houmas House and plan on watching Tom Hanks in Greyhound that was filmed ...

Desperate to get away after being locked down, we chose the Lower Mississippi cruise from NOLA and return. We drove and arrived a day early to spend additional time in the Big Easy. I contacted ACL to find out where the garage was at the dock so I could park my car a day early and no one I spoke with could tell me. After several frustrating phone calls, I went to the dock and was able to find ...

Took wonderful trip with American Cruise Lines, aboard the America, for an 8 day cruise from New Orleans, LA to Vicksburg, MS, back to New Orleans, LA. had wanted to do a cruise on the Mississippi for well over 10 years so finally decided the time was right, following so long under Covid 19 quarantine. This was only the second cruise allowed by the US Coast Guard since restrictions were lifted, ...

Really enjoyed my cruise on the Mississippi. Staff really took wonderful care of us. Food was very good and even included surf and turf on the final night. Price included excursions which were very interesting. Had the opportunity to learn more about the civil war, visit an outstanding museum and see several very interesting plantations. All tour guides were well prepared. Back on the ship we had ...

I have went on 5 cruises with American cruise line. I love cruising with them. They do everything to make your cruise fun & enjoyable. The crew on the America were the best. The crew from cruise director to deck hand are friendly & helpful. Their work is hard & they do a great job. ACL went up & beyond in making their ships safe. The food is 5 star. Never had a bad meal. I would recommend ...

CABIN: see "Cabin Review" below "Raitings" DINING: If you are a foodie, expect to be disappointed. The food was generally good and the quantity sufficient. The service was inconsistent and often sloppy. Mostly young adults who work long hours and try hard, but do not have adequate training and supervision. EMBARKATION: The usual cattle car of moving us from the hotel to the boat (there ...

I have never been on such a disorganized cruise that lacked vital communication. Despite the fact that engine trouble caused us to miss 2 ports and be stuck in the dock, most of the crew was brand new, only began 2 weeks prior and it didn’t seem they had much training. The food was 5 out of 10; a great disappointment. If you like being lectured, that was the primary entertainment although a Mark ...

We had always wanted to do the Mississippi River, but thought it too expensive. We finally decided to do it as our 50th cruise. We started in New Orleans and ended in St.Louis. Our price included an overnight stay in New Orleans at the Intercontinental Hotel. We and all the other passengers were bused from the hotel to the boat. The boat is only 3 years old, but shows signs of needing a paint ...

My husband and I are seasoned cruisers with experience on Seabourn, Regent, Ama Waterways & SilverSea. A two week journey down the Mississippi River. St. Paul Minn to NOLA, was a completely different type of cruising. Expect to learn more about American history; exploration, wars and expansion conflicts....the pioneers vs Indian tribes, mining and lumber industries. Music. Heartland ...
