Mississippi cruise: Not Exactly Perfect.

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Melody

The Missus and I decided some time ago to kick the tires on ACL, in order to compare the line with American Queen Voyages (which unfortunately is no more). We chose the American Melody for a quick round-trip on the Mississippi out of New Orleans. ACL does not pay for incoming airport transfers so we grabbed a cab at the New Orleans airport. They do, however, provide a coach for the return ...

This is an unsolicited letter of commendation. We did the Lower Mississippi cruise from New Orleans to Memphis on March 15th. It was one of the best cruises we have taken. The staff couldn't have been better. They were courteous and helpful. Please extend my thanks to the following. Hanna, the Cruise Director was fantastic. She let us know where to be and when "on the dot". The piano player was ...

We loved the cruise on Florida rivers after many cruises in the gulf and oceans we enjoyed the calm river cruise The ship was a bit dated but the crew and personnel were very attentive. Food was excellent with many choices and sometimes high level entrees like lobster and prime rib. A smaller ship with only 90 passengers allowed us to meet many of the passengers. The tours were well done ...

First time cruising with American Cruise Line. Small beautiful ship with lots of amenities. Very accommodating to passengers with disabilities. Rooms are good size with king size bed and balcony. 180 maximum passengers but we only had 110 on our cruise. Staff were WONDERFUL. They took their time to get to know you, your likes and dislikes. ILots to do - excursions, lectures, crafts, games, ...

American Eagle ~ Just Disembarked

Review for a U.S.A. Cruise on American Eagle (ACL)

We disembarked from our week cruise on Monday. This was our 2nd sailing with ACL. The food: the food was always wonderful, reminding me of being in a restaurant in France, plated nicely, perfect portions. The beef is on the rare side, so I had to send it back for my hubby who prefers med to well. The taste was still there, though. Alcohol: While we are not drinkers, there was wine and beer ...

We took the New Year's cruise from St. Petersburg, FL, to Key West, FL, round trip. It was only the second cruise for this itinerary and everything was planned/executed very well. We like traveling with about 100 passengers. The Mayor and local town dignitaries of Punta Gorda literally rolled out the red carpet and offered goodie bags and mimosas when we docked to celebrate being a port. The ...

American Cruise Lines offers a very interesting cruise following the path of Lewis and Clark on the Snake and Columbia rivers. Each day is filled with excursions and entertaining presentations of this historic adventure. There are a multitude of daily excursions to choose from some are complementary others are fee based. We especially liked the Mt. St. Helens and Fort Clatsop tours. You also ...

The ship was nice and the cabin good size. Shore exertions good. But dining experience was not good. The selection of food not very good. No side dishes at lunch or dinner. Terrace grill Hamburger were like hokey pucks.. Out of bacon in am and staff too lazy to go to kitchen to get more. On night we sat down at 6:20 and got our entrees at 7:40! Another night whole table ordered clan ...

A huge and expensive disappointment

Review for a North America River Cruise on American Splendor (formerly America)

We took a Mississippi River cruise on American Cruise Lines Oct. 3-10. It definately had the price tag of a luxury cruise but unfortunately fell very short. The worst thing was there was Legionella in the water (employees said this was a known issue prior to our departure). We were a group of 11, 8 of us got sick. There was also dreadful mold in the showers which we asked to have cleaned. The ...
