Review for a Caribbean - Western Cruise on Mariner of the Seas

Was the 1ST cruise I have ever been on but the experience was amazing. My wife gave me a heads up on what to expect - but the actual experience exceeded what I had in mind. The Ship: The ship itself is an older 2003 (not sure if that's considered older by experienced crusiers). Either way, the ship was very nice and clean throughout. Working as an area custodial supervisor I can tell the ...

Food poor quality and ship in need of an update

The MDR service was good but the food was just not edible. The saving grace was the dessert. My mom ordered a NY steak strip medium, however it was more like a skirt steak and it was well done and tough. I ordered chicken on two nights and both nights the chicken texture and flavor was not good. Even for breakfast our toast was not toasted, it was still soft. My daughter ordered the free ...

Very disappointed, cruise experience has gone downhill

I very much regret our latest cruise on Mariner of the Seas. We went during a busy time (spring break season), but the boat felt especially crowded. It was very much akin to how airlines started squeezing as much people in during the last decade or two- the cruise felt overbooked and there wasn't a single space, bar, or restaurant that wasn't jam packed or didn't have a line. In addition, the ...

Food was horrible. Beds were very uncomfortable

The food on Royal Caribbean has declined from my past experiences. The staff was great at the dining room but the quality of the food was terrible. I didn’t eat my food most nights and resorted to the pizza later on. It was better than most of the food in the dining room and the buffet was even worse. Usually we only go to the dining room bc it’s been great in the past. Besides the quality of the ...

English Pub is for tiniest tushies

Review for a Caribbean - Southern Cruise on Mariner of the Seas

The staff were always kind and helpful. The ship was VERY clean and safe. My main complaint is that 85% of the seats in the English pub POKE YOU on both sides when you try to sit in them. I commented on this to fellow attendees and they all moaned about the discomfort of that pub's chairs. The obvious is "Don't sit there!" I know, but it was the location of the daily meet and greet for newcomers ...

Good Ship. Good Crew.

My #1 criticism about this ship was the elevators...so really, that's a pretty good thing. That said, I don't recall a ship with consistently longer wait times than this one. I don't know what the reason for this is (programming maybe?), but it was enough that we'd usually end up bailing and take the stairs. Not a huge deal, but it would be if we had strollers/wheelchairs etc. The Windjammer ...

Pleasantly surprised

I booked my first cruise with Royal Caribbean as a tribute to a childhood friend (and RCL Employee). I was pleasantly surprised by pretty much everything. My only "complaint" was that the scrambled eggs at the Windjammer were gross, but easily forgiven due to other options. Didn't care for my meal at Jamie's, but that could easily be because truffle based meals just don't jive with my pallet. The ...

An Excellent Ship for a great price

We have been on a total 18 cruises with Disney, NCL, RCL and Holland. This was a four night to Nassau, Perfect Day with two days at sea. We never felt the ship moving, it was smooth sailing all the way. We ate in the main dining each night and the food and service was excellent. You do not need to spend extra money on the specialty dining. We had a balcony room on the 11th deck and slept ...

Great Ship, Food, Not so Much

We really enjoyed this ship and the size of it. It was perfect really. We were able to navigate and figure it all out on our 2nd day. This was our 2nd RCI cruise and 15th overall. The staff on Mariner were outstanding and really helpful. Pool bar waiters, bar staff, casino Bar Staff and cabin stewards were amazing as well. MOS was refurbished a few years ago and is in great shape. We saw ...
