Good ship, inconsistent shore excursions

Review for Celebrity Eclipse to South America

Age 60s

We sailed on the Eclipse about 8 years ago and knew the ship was due for refurbishment next year so we were concerned it may be a bit worn about the edges but to our surprise it was very well maintained. We had a balcony and it was a 16 night cruise and felt there was not enough storage. Entertainment on the ship was good, one poor act, some not so great, some really good, overall very ...

Food Poisoning, Room 6212 creaked

The Celebrity Reflection Transatlantic 2014 cruise spoiled me. The Eclipse in 2019 woke me up. Food poisoning does that. I ate in the Celebrity cafe on the 14th floor. I was treated by the medical staff and once the ship docked in Santiago South America I received further treatment. My cabin 6212 creaked incessantly. This ship does need to be overhauled. The dining room experience was ...

This was our first cruise with Celebrity having sailed mostly with HAL, it's interesting to wonder whether this means you become used to how a certain provider does things but our overall experience could have been better. The ship was lovely, well maintained, comfortable, everything worked, always a bonus. We had a standard balcony room and it was fine, big enough, plenty of storage and we ...

My husband and I have cruised over a dozen times onboard Celebrity ships. This was our first time on Eclipse. We were in Concierge class and selected the cruise because of the unusual itinerary from Los Angeles along the west coast of Central and South America. To get my primary complaint out of the way . . . from embarkation through the entire cruise, queue management was a problem. I do not ...

The most inspiring, educational, and rewarding cruise I've ever taken.

As a scientist and biologist, I wanted to explore the Galapagos Islands for myself to witness the uniqueness of species that motivated Charles Darwin to advance his factual theories on evolution and natural selection. The National Geographic team aboard the Endeavor II gave us an exceptionally motivating expedition of the most unique location on our planet. The experience was enhanced by the ...

The basics: Howdy. I went on the 30-day encompassing travel from Los Angeles to Buenos Aires. Travel was part of a family/family friends unit accompanying passengers in their 60s and 70s, one with mobility, non-wheelchair considerations; we're mostly a group that wanted to see the sights and hopefully get an inkling of the life of the region with less emphasis on the bells and whistles of ...

We bought the cruise last winter as a 30 cruise. We were not informed that it changed to a B2B Cruise. All ship experiences were a repeat the second half. There were many unhappy customers!! Classic Bait and Switch. Embarkation was a nightmare. Never experienced anything like the confusion, being bullied by people taking your luggage, 2 hour wait, etc. The crew was wonderful! Food OK ...

We choose this cruise is because we have never been to South America. We took an excursion in Puntaeranes, Costa Rica and could not find the bus that was supposed to take us to St. Jose. There were no guides at the terminal and we asked the bus drivers where our bus was and was directed to outside the gates of the terminal but the bus was actually the first bus in the terminal closes to the ...

A cheap cruise means bargain cruisers and the cruise line cutting corners

We liked the idea of a cheap cruise. So did everyone else in board. We did not find any compatible cruise companions. Mostly old or cheap travelers. The cruise line cut corners. Cheap food (no smoked salmon, all the good stuff on the formal nights only) The real problem was the ports. Or lack of ports. And parking in the cheapest, furthest away berths in commercial ports, not cruise ports. ...

Yes; I am/was a first-time cruiser. While I was a bit concerned that a big ship would feel crowded (wasn’t), I booked this at the urging of friends who think highly of the Princess Cruise Line. I was not disappointed in the least with this adventure. I had an exceedingly comfortable mini-suite and one terrific cabin steward (thanks, Chris, for your diligence and sense of humor). The dining ...
