Review for a Transatlantic Cruise on Vision of the Seas

I loved this cruise. Embarkation in Southampton was a piece of cake. Showed up, checked in, went on board. Our cabin, a Grand Suite was wonderful. Yes, the ship is a bit dated and some worn spots, but it is 14 years old. It will be refurbished next year. But the service in all respects was exceptional. Our Cabin Steward, our Waiter and Asst. Waiter, and our Head Waiter couldn't have been ...

We are currently in the middle of a 14-day transatlantic voyage on Vision of the Seas. We have sailed many times before with RCI and it seems that this line has really cut corners to go downhill. The ship is very worn and nothing seems to work. We have had the same television programs for four days now and all the sleepy guy on the phone can say is that they're working on it. Meal portions ...

Even though it's older, it is still a nice ship

After 2 weeks of traveling in Ireland, we stayed overnight in Southampton before leaving, there was a boat show in town and hotel rooms were at a premium...so we wound up a cab ride (12 pounds or about $20) from everything, although, Southampton is not a tourist location. Embarkation was smooth enough, but @ 1 pm rooms were not ready, when we got to our room, it was very clean but missing the ...

Vision of the seas is one of Royal Caribbean's older ships (1998) and is due to be fully refitted next year 2013. The ship whilst small by today's standards has a very light, open and airy feel about it and whilst it may not have the expanse of facilities of the larger ships it is laid out in a pleasing manner. Priority check-in had us quickly through the small queue (it was 11:30) unfortunately, ...

The Vision OTS is a medium sized (by today's standards) ship that doesn't drive you crazy with crowds. It is big enough to have lots of options for activities but not so big that the numbers of people are overwhelming. There was always a quiet place to read somewhere on the ship. Missed the cafe in the atrium for coffee and pastries: this ship only had the specialty coffee bar and Ben and Jerry's ...

Avoid this ship and seriously rethink using RCL.

We knew the Vision of the Seas was an older, smaller ship but were surprised at how poorly maintained it was. We experienced sewage smells in the hallways and elevator shafts for the first week of the cruise. Trim was falling from the ceiling and carpet curling to create tripping hazards. A large piece of granite fell at my mother's feet from the counter top in the buffet line with no apologies or ...

Just back from a 4 day cruise ex-Southampton. To preface, Vision was the first RCCL ship I cruised on under 2 years ago August 2009. * Staff rude and diffident without the glimmer of a smile on their faces * Dining was a chore, taking 2 hours on 3 off the 4 nights to get our main course served (on one night, the "Headwaiter" came to us and told us there would be a delay because George ...

Recently returned from a short 4 day cruise from Southampton (UK) to Copenhagen.Day 1. We arrived at Southampton around 1030 as it was the Royal Wedding day and we had read that the wedding could be seen onboard, we got to the Mayflower terminal (had been due to leave from city terminal but a Celebrity ship was there), check in was easy, priority line moved just as quickly as the other lines, got ...

After a previous disappointing experience on Royal Caribbean, this cruise really did a lot to restore our faith in the line. We were nervous before travelling having read some negative reviews of this ship, but fortunately we really enjoyed this short break.Dining roomWe found service in the dining room to be fairly slow at times, but our waiter and in particular our assistant waiter were very ...
